The artist Jonna Saarinen will be working in Atlantis with the inks and will be available to answer any questions on an informal basis. She will also show examples of her work, all of which has been done using Permaset Aqua.
Jonna was born in Turku, Finland, and moved to the UK in the late 1990s. After graduating from Croydon College, Greater London, in 2006 with a National Diploma in fashion & clothing, Jonna started her Bachelors Degree in textile design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, specialising in screen printing.
After three wonderful years at Central Saint Martins, Jonna graduated in the summer of 2009, and went on to study at the Royal College of Art for her Masters Degree in printed textiles. Jonna will graduate from the RCA in the summer of 2011.
A lot of Jonna’s work takes strong influence from her Finnish roots, as well as her love of Nordic nature & architecture. Sustainability plays a big role in the design process – Jonna’s whole final year at Central Saint Martins was dedicated to researching into and designing with organic & sustainable materials. Recently, whilst studying at the RCA Jonna has successfully gained sponsorship from leading sustainable screen printing ink manufacturers Permaset/Colormaker Industries.
